Pair of fan projects depicting scenes from the life in ancient Rome taken from frescoes.

The oval subject is taken from a fresco found in the excavations at Villa Montalto-Peretti then Negroni, today Palazzo Massimo alle Terme.

The subject of the second fan scene is a detail from the "Aldobrandini wedding" https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nozze_Aldobrandini.

They are made in watercolor and tempera on vellum.

Roman school manufacture from the second half of the 18th century, attributable to the atelier of Tommaso Bigatti (active between 1770-1810) or Camillo Buti (1747-1808) both specialized in the creation of fans and miniatures on fine leather.

Excellent conditions commensurate with age.
